Iron Craft #6- Peeps!

The challenge for this week for Iron Craft was to do something with Peeps! I knew this challenge would bring back both Thing 1 and Thing 2 to the blog. I think it was the hope of getting to eat a Peep or 2.

Thing 1 is all about the Hunger Games this week. He wanted to see the midnight showing of the movie but it was a school night so instead we went right after school. When deciding what to do for his Peep project he decided to do several scenes from the Hunger Games with the Peeps.

He calls it Hunger Peeps.

Thing 2 did a simple scene.

He titled it "Rich Peeps"

I did not have an idea to make with real Peeps so I decided to make a couple of Peep plushy toys for the dog.

I love how they turned out and am not sure I want to give them to the dog as I am sure he will destroy them within minutes.

Project Project Runway- Finale

This week for Project Project Runway for the final challenge we were to design a collection showcasing our talents and skills as a designer. I was originally only going to do one show stopping piece but with encouragement and help in the studio from designer Kat from Just Crafty Enough I was able to pull off a mini collection. Hey, the designers got help on the show so I was just following the rules ;)

I am calling my collection City Lights. I chose to stick with my favorite color palette of gray, black and silver. (I know black is really not a color but humor me will you). I created 6 looks.

Project Project Runway Final Challenge

For my first look I chose to do separates.   Both materials used were from previous challenges. A straight linen skirt and black top with some bling on the shoulder finish the first design.

For my second look I designed a black strapless dress.

My third design is a long vest that can be work alone or with a top underneath. It is paired with a simple black skirt. The shoes are to die for!

My 4th design is another skirt and top combination. This is a great look for a night on the town.

The 5th design in my collection is a black and gray dress. This is my favorite dress in the collection.

The final design in my collection is a wedding dress. A straight and simple front leads to a stunning and flowing back. The added bling on the straps is what every bride needs to feel special on her day! Project Project Runway Final Challenge

This show is my model Emilie's last show with House of Nodrok. It is time for her to retire and have some work done. She is having joint problems. We at the House of Nodrok thank her for 2 great seasons. We will miss her and wish her well as she takes on the next chapter in her life. Who knows, maybe she will wear the wedding dress in the near future.

I am not sure my collection is good enough to win but I sure did have fun playing this season.  Until next time??????

Project Project Runway # 10- Let's Get Down to Business

This week on Project Project Runway we were challenged to create a ready-to-wear garment that is irresistible, timeless, feminine and on a budget. We were given $4.65.

I chose a grey linen with a white pinstripe and a leather belt. Total for the outfit was $3.85. Thank goodness for only needing a small amount and JoAnn's coupons :) I wanted to make a simple dress but to add a little to the dress I made half the dress with the stripes turned the other way.

I paired it with a nice black pump and bag.

Iron Craft #5- Hey Buddy, Can you spare a dollar?

This week for Iron Craft we were to go to the dollar store and use what we could find there to make our project for the challenge. I decided I wanted to make an Easter Wreath for our front door. This is a pretty simple project you need plastic eggs, a foam wreath, glue gun, glue sticks and Easter grass.  This came together really quickly and I love how it looks on my front door.

Thing 1 decided to join me this week. He found a square piece of foam at the Dollar Store and told me he was going to carve something. I was skeptical (and worried about the mess that it would make). A little while later he came upstairs with his finished project.

I love what he did.

There is talk of painting it but since we would need special paint for foam we could not add that for this week. It can't be found at the Dollar Store.

Project Project Runway # 9- When I get my dress in lights

This week for the challenge on Project Project Runway we were to use lighting techniques to create an avant garde look. The runway will be lit in black lighting.

I have to admit that I was not very inspired this week. At one point while looking around our "Mood" I almost gave up. I bought some extremely bright yellow knit and headed off to the studio. On the way there I stopped by home and grabbed some glow in the dark bracelets we have for when camping and decided it was that or nothing.

I don't even really know what to say about my look. I feel like it ended up being almost like a firefighter take off. The ribbon I put on the trim and belt looked like what you would see on a fire jacket. My hope was that the white legging would glow as well.  I was kind of disappointed in the results we got with the black light.  Or I should say it was not what I had hoped for in the end.

I did have a good laugh while working on this look and hope that the judges can laugh as well and keep me in it for one more week.

My creation Emilie does have bigger hair than most of the people I knew in the 80's.

Project Project Runway #8- O! say, can you sew?

OPA!!!

This week on Project Project Runway the challenge was to design a dress inspired by the colors and culture of one of the flags they were presented. I chose the flag for the country of Greece. I was tempted to choose one of the flags with black in it but I seem to pick black a lot- so I thought I would step out of my comfort zone. I knew for sure that I was not going to take it so literally like Michael did with what was almost a toga.

When I think of Greece I think of cotton fabrics and gorgeous blue water. I chose for my fabrics a white cotton with polka dots and blue stripped seersucker fabric.

PPR8

It is a simple dress perfect for island hopping.

For my accessories I choose I nice ring to go with the outfit and some sandals.  I would take the red flower off the sandal.  They are not exactly what I would want but there were not a lot of choices that would work with my look. My creation

I think I will be safe this week- hey if Kenley was one of the top 2 with the ruffles she made I am hoping my pleats keep me in it. This is not one of my favorite looks of the season but it is done and I am ready for next week.
