Project Project Runway #6- Fix My Friend

This week on Project Runway the designers were assigned a client that had been "nominated" by a friend for a make-over. This episode made me feel frustrated like everyone else has voiced. Ven was on fire, and he needs to look in the mirror. I felt bad for the woman he was designing for.

This week for our challenge we were supposed to design for a friend. I am choosing a friend from work who like me wears very casual clothes to work most of the time. We are in recreation and spend a lot of our time out and about so heels and skirts don't work. Jen is over 6 feet tall, pear shaped and not a size 2. I thought I had a photo of her but could not find one on my home computer. Jen always has a hard time finding pants and skirts that are the length she wants.

I decided I would design a skirt and jacket for her to wear at an upcoming conference where she is making a presentation. I hope that what I made would be something that she would like.

I think the long jacket works well with the skirt and will be perfect with the flat shoes for running around a conference.

Project Project Runway #4- Woman on the Go!

This week on Project Project Runway the challenge was to design a look for the woman on the go who wants a stylish, modern and comfortable look that can be worn all day.

The woman that I designed for is a young mother with several young children. She is involved at school, her kids are active in a variety of activities and she wants to be comfortable going from place to place. But she also wants to look good and stylish. She wants to be ready for a quick lunch with friends as well as be able to meet with the other parents at school. Project Project Runway

I designed a tunic dress out of gray stretch fabric. She can change the look for the occasion.

She is comfortable but looks good. The modern mom on the go.

Though I designed a simple dress I hope the judges give me credit for thinking about who I was designing for- a mom with kids wanting to look good.  She is on the go all the time.

I am also hoping that I am given a pass next week as my model and her "family" head west into the Black Hills of South Dakota.  There won't be anytime to spend in the studio.  Looking forward to a normal schedule with the return of school :)

PPR #2- Candy Couture

This week's challenge on Project Project Runway brings us to the unconventional challenge. This time we were to create a look out of candy and other items from the candy store.

This challenge brought back memories of my struggles through the pet store challenge a few seasons ago where I tried to work with rabbit pellets and struggled horribly. I thought I chose wisely for this challenge: Nerds, Fruit by the Foot, Dots and Sprinkles.

I was ready to try different glue. I looked at my supplies again and decided to skip the Nerds- too close to the last time. For my look I used the fruit by the foot for my skirt and covered the shirt in sprinkles. I thought the look came together pretty good.

UNTIL I was getting her dressed for our photo shoot.

If you look closely on both photos you can see why it was the world's fastest photo shoot. The candy on top was melting on my model. We took photos so fast she didn't even have time for accessories. I think the next unconventional challenge I will skip the glue and candy :)
